Abstract

e re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, in

addition to those already existing with other Caribbean countries, entails a challenge to

Cuba’s international relations and, especially, to Law. In this connection, a review of Priva-

te International Law takes on special signicance, since stress is made on the growth of trade

relations of a private nature. All of this is moving forward despite the U.S. blockade and

policy toward the Cuban Revolution.

It is important to strengthen international legal cooperation, which will become parti-

cularly stronger in the elds of Family Law and Business Law given the Cuban population’s

family ties with the U.S.-based Cuban community. And this will only be possible through

the mutual recognition and execution of sentences between the two countries.
