PTO Supports Local Products

The Bolivian PTO (National Service of Intellectual Property - SENAPI) recently organized a workshop with national and international experts aimed at outlining technical guidelines in order to achieve the Designation of Origin (DO) for the "Royal Quinoa."

Royal Quinoa is grown in the arid Southern Altiplano of Bolivia at around 12,000 feet above sea level. These extreme conditions produce a bigger grain with increased nutritional values.

In the workshop, the characteristics of the Royal Quinoa that have to be documented in order to achieve a DO were defined. They include the features of the grain, its climatic environment, the product applications and other aspects that distinguish it from other types of quinoa.
