The striped bass season opened Sunday in all waters west of the Corlies Demarcation Line, which would be all of our state's backbays and tidal rivers. But with the major snowstorm we just had and with water temperatures between 39-42 degrees, don't expect much to happen. Melting snow will chill the water.
Striped bass fishermen look to how the action is unfolding in the upper reaches of Raritan Bay while fishing with clams. The striped bass caught in the first few weeks of the season usually are from 22- 26 inches. Striped bass regulations have remained the same since last season. Anglers can harvest two fish at 28 inches or greater per day. With a bonus permit, anglers can keep a third striped bass at 28 inches or greater.Raritan Good Spot for Bass
