"Based on what I've seen in some of my classes," said freshman Mary Love, "I believe that the new writing components will hinder more students than they assist. I feel this way because most students don't write on the level they should be writing on or take the time to research or read over their papers before they hand them in."

"If they add a writing component to these standardized tests then students should not have to take the MEAP test," replied math teacher Denae Hawkins. "They should make one of those tests (ACT or SAT) the basic standardized test for students."
