At one time, La Center and Ridgefield were perceived as rivals, each hungrily eyeing the same land along Interstate 5 for economic development.
Competition gave way to cooperation last week when the two city councils reached a tentative agreement to support each other in seeking expansion of their urban growth areas.Ridgefield, La Center Join Forces; Two Cities Ready to Cooperate On Urban Growth
Ridgefield would relinquish its interest in land west of La Center and concentrate on adding areas to the south, near where significant development is either being built or planned along Northwest Hillhurst Road.
