Being a prison guard is always going to be a dangerous job, but the recent death of 41-year-old David McGuinn, a guard at the Maryland House of Corrections in Jessup, raises all sorts of troubling questions.

Two officers were stabbed in March. A rumor had already gone around that the inmates were planning something against the guards, and the prison had been in lockdown since Saturday.
