As the millennium approaches, more people are starting to understand the technical implications of the year 2000 computer problem (often just referred to as simply “Y2K”). Still, few understand why acting upon legal issues is an essential part of the Y2K remediation process. While it’s true that the year 2000 problem is a programming issue, it does have tremendous legal implications. I can probably summarize this point by saying that Lloyds of London estimates that Y2K related litigation will exceed one trillion dollars.
