A New Hampshire newspaper has reported that an Israeli company, Kollsman Inc., is part of a group putting in a $2 billion U.S. Department of Homeland Security tender to "build a border security fence designed to reduce the influx of illegal immigrants." "Globes," an Israeli financial magazine reported on this.
According to spokespeople, the company provided a border control and management system to the IDF Border Security Program. Israel, which constructed borders within contested lands, has been said to offer a good model for American border security. A vice-president of Kollsman's parent company asked rhetorically, "Which country has the most secure border? It's Israel."Recent proposals calling for a U.S.-Mexico border wall cited Israel's as a marker of success. Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak's chief of staff, Uzi Dayan, said he received "serious inquiries from Washington about how to build a fence along Israeli lines. They want to emulate us." Forget that Dayan thought a U.S.-Mexico wall was a bad idea.
