ORONO - A top federal security official was in Maine Monday for a tour and a series of meetings with University of Maine and private sector companies engaged in research and technology work that could have applications in homeland security efforts.

Adm. Jay Cohen, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's undersecretary for science and technology, visited Orono at the invitation of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.
