"They're not paying the proper wages and standards and we're drawing attention to that," he said. "Other contractors who bid on that job were paying proper wages. We need to protect the collective bargaining rate and benefit package and we're protecting it. By employing carpenters and not paying (the wage), they are destroying those rates and standards."

"Things are going well (with membership)," [Rob Naughton] said about the union. "We got a membership that's always increasing."

"There's good reason to believe that when people start to get a sense that the economy game is not stacking in their favor, (union membership) helps," [Mark Price] said. "They think it's harder to get by without some protection from unions."
