Remember Roberts Motels and Roberts Show Lounge, which "back in the day" gave opportunities to countless new and veteran top flight entertainers, including Dick Gregory, Sammy Davis Jr., Redd Foxx, Della Reese, Smokey Robinson, Dinah Washing-ton, B.B. King, Duke Ellington, Louis Jordan, Johnny Hartman, Al Hibbler and so many others?

Woe Is Me! - Enroute to Friday's Interfaith Breakfast at the Chicago Hilton, celebrating the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and hosted by "hizhonor," Mayor Richard M. Daley, I took a tumble at Michigan and Balbo and was immediately whisked by the paramedics via ambulance to the emergency room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. There, after x-rays, the docs determined that I had a broken left ankle. So now I'm hobblin' around with the aid of a walker. Please keep me in your prayers that this "old gal" will heal as rapidly as a "young gal." See ya!

MXC has won three coveted awards for excellence from the Illinois Community College Board in Teaching and Learning, Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning ana Workforce Preparation, $12 million in federal grants enhanced student access to higher education, and a two-year $35 million renovation the campus underwent in 2005 provided tenure as president.
