Legal Innovation at Your Fingertips

In today’s legal climate, lawyers face mounting pressure to deliver superior work with fewer resources and tighter deadlines. Vincent AI transforms how attorneys approach litigation by increasing productivity, saving valuable time, and providing an intelligent assistant throughout the entire legal process.

This is the first blog in a new series exploring how Vincent AI supports attorneys at each stage of the Litigation Lifecycle. We begin where all lawsuits do: the Complaint.

The Plaintiff's Perspective

For plaintiffs' attorneys, litigation begins when a client walks through the door. The client describes the facts of the case, including the details of what happened, which parties wronged them, and how they've been harmed.

Turning these facts into actionable legal claims requires both creativity and expertise–a complex task that Vincent simplifies by methodically matching client experiences to their strongest legal foundations.

Build an Argument Workflow

Vincent's Build an Argument workflow helps attorneys transform client narratives into compelling legal strategies. By simply entering your client's facts and objectives, Vincent can generate comprehensive recommendations for your complaint, including identification of relevant parties and claims.

First, enter your client's facts and your litigation goals. These can be written in plain language, as Vincent does not require AI-specific prompts, though it may ask some clarifying questions if it detects that important facts or objectives are missing. Then, Vincent will generate a detailed research memorandum identifying potential parties to sue, recommended causes of action, damages to pursue, and an explanation of its supporting legal research.

Accompanying every recommendation, Vincent provides relevant case law and statutes. All of its cited sources are hyperlinked to actual cases and statutes from vLex's legal database, the largest legal research library in the world, ensuring you can verify the accuracy of every citation.

The workflow doesn't end with initial recommendations. You can ask Vincent any follow-up questions you may have about its research, including which claim has the highest likelihood of success, what additional facts would strengthen your claims, and what damages you can reasonably expect. Although Vincent was designed to guide users by suggesting follow-up questions, its capabilities are not limited to its presented suggestions. Users may ask Vincent any questions relevant to their case.

Through the course of a conversation with Vincent, you can generate an initial draft of your complaint, giving you a solid foundation that can be refined according to your professional judgment.

The Defendant's Perspective

Defense attorneys face a different challenge. When served with a complaint, they must act decisively under tight statutory deadlines to quickly analyze the claims, identify potential defenses, and prepare an answer in response–including any counterclaims and cross-claims.

Vincent AI transforms this demanding procedure by rapidly dissecting complaints, identifying weaknesses, and suggesting defenses that might otherwise take days of research to uncover.

Analyze a Complaint Workflow

Vincent's Analyze a Complaint workflow streamlines this process. Simply upload your complaint, and Vincent will guide you through developing your defense strategy.

Once you’ve uploaded your complaint, Vincent will prompt you to select which party you represent. Then, Vincent will present you with a menu of analytical tasks you can select for it to perform. While the specific menu items presented are determined by the contents of the complaint, some of the tasks Vincent can complete include extracting a timeline of alleged facts, identifying and analyzing each separate claim, and proposing viable defenses to each claim.

After Vincent completes its initial analysis, you can request more specific guidance. You might ask which suggested defense has the strongest chance of success, what client interview questions you should ask to develop facts to support your defense, or have Vincent compress its research into an easily digestible email to your client.

Vincent can even draft your answer completely, including any counterclaims or cross-claims, giving you a strong starting point for your response.

Beyond the Complaint: the Journey Continues

Vincent AI empowers attorneys at every stage of litigation. For the critical first steps of filing or responding to a complaint, the Build an Argument and Analyze a Complaint workflows provide valuable structure and insight for developing your case strategy.

All research Vincent performs is presented on-screen with downloadable, copyable results and is also emailed to you for convenient reference. Every citation is linked to source documents from the vLex library, ensuring reliable and verifiable, non-hallucinated information you can trust. Just like the complaint is the beginning of a lawsuit, these workflows are just the beginning of what Vincent AI offers. Whether you're preparing for discovery, drafting motions, or developing trial strategy, Vincent provides intelligent assistance tailored to your specific needs.
