La autoproclamación como “pet friendly” de distintos comercios, restaurantes y proyectos habitacionales viene al alza. Algunos de ellos consientes del bienestar animal, otros, simplemente utilizándolo como “negocio” para atraer más clientela. Lo cierto es que, desde hace algunos años, un esquema de acreditación de comercios como “pet friendly” fuedesarrollado por el Instituto de Normas Técnicas de Costa Rica (Inteco) en unión con una fundación experta en psicología animal, quienes someten a las empresas a un proceso de evaluación riguroso que consta de varios ejes, para verificar si cumplen o no con las condiciones necesarias para admitir mascotas en sus instalaciones, más allá de solo ser “bienvenidas”.
