Panama's Public Registry New Electronic Registration System (SIR)

PANAMA'S PUBLIC REGISTRY NEW ELECTRONIC REGISTRATION SYSTEM (SIR)

As of October 24, 2014, the Panama Public Registry's new Electronic Registration System (SIR) was implemented as part of a project that seeks to modernize its platform in order to provide a more expedite, safe and reliant service.

KEY CHANGES YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF:

Public Deeds will no longer be stamped with the registration information. Registration information will be included in a separate sheet attached to the Public Deed. DO NOT DISCARD OR DESTROY THIS PAGE. No original signatures will be stamped in any document issued by the Public Registry Office; signatures have been replaced by a security verification code. This includes Public Deeds and Certificates of Good Standing. Registration Numbers for companies have changed. From now onwards companies will be identified with a single registration number known as its FOLIO. Companies registered prior to this new system will be updated to receive a FOLIO number. Due to the implementation of the new system, and given the fact that the Registry Offices had to close for more than a week, we have faced delays in completing our clients' requests. Although we trust you understand these difficulties escape our control, we apologize for any inconveniences these may be causing you.

We have received confirmation from the Registry's authorities that all processes should return to their normal course of business shortly and that we shall be able to assist you with our usual efficiency.
