Reformar la OMC: la propuesta de Estados Unidos

Del 2 al 5 de diciembre de 2025, se llevó a cabo la Semana de la Reforma de la OMC, espació que sirvió para que diversos miembros de la organización pusieran sobre la mesa las propuestas de los cambios que requiere el sistema multilateral de comercio y de las maneras en las que se debe repensar la OMC para resolver la crisis por la que atraviesa.
Posteriormente, Estados Unidos plasmó su propuesta de reforma en un comunicado el 15 de diciembre. Aunque el documento abarca múltiples aspectos relacionados con la reforma de la OMC, por razones de espacio, sólo se abordará aquí el relativo a la aplicación desigual de las normas y obligaciones entre los países miembros, cuestión que ha sido considerada como un problema central que afecta la equidad y el funcionamiento del sistema multilateral de comercio.
