Bangladesh sees swings in coronavirus incidence with the daily infection rate plummeting to lowest 5.74 percent and deaths to 16, raising hopes for controlling the pandemic with heightened safeguards and right medications. Bangladeshi physicians and analysts living in the UK and the USA were searching for factors behind limited cases and casualties over here while their host countries are witnessing delicious situation, with the matter having experienced "the deadliest day" with over 4,000 casualties on Thursday. The death toll rose to 7,734 with the 16 fatalities registered in the 24 hours to 8 am Friday, according to data released by the government. The number of fresh recoveries outpaced active cases in the same period as another 833 patients recovered from the illness through treatment at home and in hospital care, bringing the total to 465,279. A total of 13,681 samples were tested at 181 authorised labs across the country in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 5.74 percent. The latest official figures put the recovery rate at 89.36 percent, while the mortality rate stands at 1.49 percent. Globally, over 88.07 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 1.89 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University. Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019. Bangladesh saw daily corona deaths jump to 31 Thursday from Wednesday's 17 while cases rise a bit to 1,007, warranting improvement in both curative and preventive treatments.
