2018 is an important year in Mexico´s democracy as we face one of the most broadcasted and distressed elections in history. As the whole world faces very important changes and Mexico renegotiates its most important commercial treaty we must plan ahead for the first Sunday of July (1st) 2018. Per Mexican Federal Labor Law (article 74 IX) and the General Electoral Law (article 22) it is very important to know that Sunday July 1st is a mandated holiday. Employers and employees shall plan ahead as to allow the general vote and anyone who works that day shall be compensated with three times normal salary on top usual Sunday premium.
